Paralegal Job - Housing Management - Bristol

This Top 100 commercial law firm provide a comprehensive range of legal services from offices throughout the UK. They are a market-leading law firm across Local and Central Government, Health and Social Care and Housing throughout the UK. Social housing is one of their core markets and the firm is looking to employ a Paralegal to join its busy and growing Housing Management team in Bristol.
Your new role
You will be supporting the Solicitors within the team with their caseload, but will also be offered the opportunity to build a personal caseload of appropriate cases. The clients you will be advising will mostly be housing associations, local authorities and specialist supported accommodation providers.You will work very closely with the dynamic and passionate team of Housing Management lawyers to advance cases to court. The work will be varied, challenging, interesting and often urgent. Examples of the types of work that you will need to undertake are as follows:-
- Drafting County Court claims
- Witness evidence
- Preparing disclosure lists and documents
- Liaising with Counsel, opponents and the Courts
- Undertaking research on more unusual or complicated cases
- Preparing slide decks for training seminars
- Preparing trial bundle indexes and bundles
- Drafting costs schedules for hearings
- Arranging case conferences, witness meetings and conferences with Counsel
- Ensuring compliance with litigation deadlines
- County Court advocacy on routine matters
The role will also include contact with clients to take instructions and progress cases. In time, you will have the opportunity to develop your own caseload working under supervision. The role will provide an excellent gateway for a candidate looking to develop a legal career in social housing.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have previous Paralegal experience and a genuine interest in social housing. You should have strong attention to detail and a clear communication style (both written and verbal), as well as good empathy skills and the ability to deal with a range of different personality types when working with clients and witnesses.
