About your new role
As an Accounts Payable Assistant you will be a valued asset of the Finance department which is made up of many teams that work together to support Weightmans' finance processes. The teams include: accounts, billing, credit control, management information, matter maintenance , and treasury.
This is a fixed term role for 12 months
Your primary role will be to ensure inbound supplier invoices (Counsel, Expert and Purchase ledger) are processed from beginning to end accurately and in a timely manner.
Your key duties and responsibilities will include:
- The monitoring of the Supplier invoices inbox
- Adding Counsel and Expert invoices to matters directly via AP voucher load
- Processing reversal requests from fee earners
- Being the first point of contact for supplier related finance queries
- Processing purchase ledger payments
- Performance of the counsel and expert payment run
- Proactively reconciling supplier statements monthly to ensure accurate ledgers (e.g. reviewing aged items, checking for duplicates)
- Weekly running of the disbursement duplicate checker process
- Providing cover within the team
This list is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role. You will also ensure that you comply with the relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures, and consistently work in accordance with our values.
About You
You will have a high level of accuracy with a keen eye for detail. Ideally, you will have experience in the legal sector but this is not a necessity. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have:

- A methodical, organised approach
- Knowledge of CPR procedure with proven technical ability.
