Our client is one of the world's largest and most successful creators, producers and distributors of outstanding television brands, responsible for many of the world's highest rated prime time entertainment, drama, serial drama and factual entertainment.
We are looking for a Senior Legal & Business Affairs Executive to join the Global Entertainment LBA team.
The team provides all legal and business affacommirs support to the Global Entertainment division, giving advice on the acquisition, development and exploitation of non-scripted formats, both external formats and in house developed formats, which have the potential to be rolled out internationally.
The team oversees the company's contractual terms with global streaming services on non-scripted commissions from in house production companies.
It also provides legal support for certain production territories, for both production and ancillary rights activities.
The business is also moving into the world of NFTs and the team will oversee its rights
position and contractual terms in this emerging market.
The central legal and business affairs team also provides support for central corporate acquisitions and
joint ventures, negotiates major output and first look deals for formats, manages the company's
intellectual property litigation and also oversees, on behalf of the company, regulatory issues, the
Terms of Trade that regulate how the divisions operate, and the company's intercompany agreements.
The Senior Legal and Business Affairs Executive is an important and varied role within the department, taking responsibility for acquiring formats for the business, both on a single and multi-territory basis and supporting the SVP in providing legal support to certain production territories (Poland, Mexico/Latin America and Finland) and supporting production companies in negotiating and documenting their deals with global streaming services.
You will ideally have knowledge and experience of international media environments, including:
o acquisition and licensing of television formats
o television production, ideally ex-UK
o drafting and negotiating contracts in a content acquisition licensing environment
o detailed understanding of contract, commercial and intellectual property law and of the
structures and systems within which broadcasters, producers and distributors operate
o knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework within which the business operates
There is flexibility around hybrid working and our client will consider candidates looking to work full time or a 4 day week.
