Job Summary:
· This role is about providing an effective legal service to a range of clients, under minimal supervision. Duties will include providing legal advice in more complex cases, processing court proceedings, attending court as required and advocacy.
· There is a direct responsibility for handling and processing legal information where care, accuracy and confidentiality are important, and you’ll be required to prepare complex legal documents for distribution.
Key Skills:
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to exchange complicated information both orally and in writing, to guide and advise colleagues and clients, including their prospects of success or the achievements of aims.
· Competent research and review skills to interpret information and write reports, letters and emails. Good drafting skills to write legal documents including bespoke drafting on complex or specialist matters.
· Ability to solve problems and provide advice on reputational, political, financial and corporate risks with a pragmatic can do attitude.
· Good negotiation skills to undertake technical legal negotiations to achieve specific outcomes.
· A working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
· Effective advocacy skills / ability to present cases in a clear and concise manner
· Sound organisational skills and flexibility to manage a large number of cases and to proactively manage risk with the ability to work to deadlines.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team and to have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in varied subject areas.
· Sound and accurate IT knowledge and proficiency with legal case management systems
· Initiative and pro-active approach
Essential Experience Required:
· Qualified Legal Executive (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives), or equivalent experience.
· Detailed knowledge of law relevant to specialism and working knowledge of related areas of law.
· Working knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules, Protocols and Practice Directions
· Demonstrable experience of delivering a quality customer focused service to others, preferably in both public and private sectors
· Good working knowledge of IT systems and procedures.

· This position is located at Chichester, PO191RG
· The role is hybrid but may require some advocacy which would be in courts within West Sussex.
