The Children and Young People’s Directorate (CYP) is dedicated to ensuring the safety, well-being, and learning of children and young people in Suffolk. The directive aims to create sustainable change for children, young people, and families through effective interventions and partnership working. Main Purpose of the Job: To act as a catalyst for change by working directly alongside children, young people, and their families, implementing the Suffolk Signs of Safety and Wellbeing framework to address social, emotional, health, or behavioral issues. Typical Responsibilities: Communicating and Engaging: Engage directly with children, young people, and families using the Suffolk Signs of Safety and Wellbeing framework. Act as the Lead Professional for named families, coordinating with other professionals for a cohesive response. Assessment, Planning, and Review: Utilize the Suffolk Signs of Safety principles and tools in various assessment processes. Participate in multi-agency assessments and statutory assessment processes as required. Effective Practice: Work alongside families to bring about sustainable improvement in social, emotional, and behavioral aspects. Manage cases and hold appropriate levels of risk, overseeing support workers when necessary. Deliver evidence-based interventions and comply with service guidelines and legal frameworks. Reporting and Accurate Recording: Maintain up-to-date records using electronic systems and provide reports as needed. Contribute to Quality Assurance processes within the team. Information, Advice, and Signposting: Provide information and signposting to relevant services for children, young people, and families. Multi-Agency and Partnership Working: Build relationships with professional groups and services in the locality to ensure effective collaboration. Managing Risk and Safeguarding: Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns promptly. Undertake tasks as directed by senior colleagues, maintaining compliance with statutory responsibilities and policies. Autonomy: Use experience, knowledge, and skills to determine the level of intervention required. Manage cases, hold risk, and offer appropriate support and information. Organize workload, identify and resolve problems, escalating when necessary. About the Team: The Suffolk Youth Justice Service (SYJS) focuses on preventing offending by children and young people while ensuring their safety, well-being, and life opportunities. Expectations in the Role: Offer a range of services to young people and their carers, including structured intervention programs and Restorative Justice interventions. Attend Youth Courts and provide court duty cover as required, including weekends and evenings. Person Profile: Qualifications and Professional Memberships: Relevant graduate-level qualification or equivalent experience. Evidence of continuing professional development. Specialist Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Ability to use initiative and apply solution-focused approaches effectively. In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and guidance. Experience in direct work with children, young people, and families, including safeguarding concerns. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders. Proficient in record-keeping and report compilation, using appropriate IT. Additional Requirements: Willingness to work in various locations, including rural areas. Undertake a DBS check. High level of organizational skills and willingness to undertake training. Ability to work alone and as part of a team, including out-of-hours working if required
