Are you a Shipping Solicitor looking to take on complex, high-value disputes within the international maritime industry? This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded team working across the Marine, Trade and Energy sectors, advising a diverse global client base on a broad range of contentious shipping and commercial matters.
THE ROLE:
You will handle a varied caseload of wet and dry shipping disputes, international trade matters and wider marine-related issues, gaining exposure to complex litigation, arbitration and commercially significant claims.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing shipping and bunker recovery claims, vessel arrests and Admiralty proceedings.
• Advising on bill of lading, charterparty and other contractual disputes.
• Supporting High Court litigation and international arbitration, including LMAA proceedings.
• Assisting with marine casualty claims involving collisions, groundings, fires, salvage and wreck removal.
• Advising on vessel financing, security enforcement, ship sales and recoveries.
• Handling General Average disputes, multi-party claims and public inquests following fatalities.
• Advising on contracts of affreightment, vessel-sharing agreements, port operations and related commercial arrangements.
• Drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, standard terms and associated documentation.
• Providing clear, commercially focused advice during urgent and emergency situations.
THE CANDIDATE:
This opportunity would suit a driven Solicitor with 3–5 years' PQE who is keen to develop their expertise within a respected shipping practice. Maritime law and contentious experience would be advantageous.
You will also demonstrate:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build lasting client relationships.
• The ability to work independently and within a busy team.
• Excellent organisation, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• A proactive approach to client service, commercial problem-solving and business development.
• The ability to remain focused and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
• A professional approach to client requirements, internal procedures and regulatory deadlines.
If you are ready for your next move in shipping law, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
