The Legists is a multi-award-winning legal recruitment platform dedicated to the legal profession. Recognised as the 'Most Trusted Legal Recruitment Agency' by SME News in 2024, we connect criminal law professionals with leading employers across the UK. Criminal Solicitors specialise in advising and representing clients who are facing criminal charges or investigations.

They play a crucial role in ensuring that individuals receive fair legal representation throughout the criminal justice process, from initial arrest through to trial and appeal where necessary. Typical responsibilities include providing legal advice to clients in police stations, preparing cases for trial, instructing counsel, attending court hearings, negotiating with prosecutors, and building strong defence strategies.

Criminal Solicitors may work on a wide range of cases including theft, assault, fraud, drug offences, and serious criminal matters. Opportunities for Criminal Solicitors are available in criminal defence firms, high street law practices, legal aid providers, and specialist criminal law chambers. Salaries generally range from £30,000 to £80,000+, depending on experience, case complexity, and location, with higher earnings possible in senior or privately funded roles. To succeed in this field, candidates require strong advocacy and negotiation skills, resilience under pressure, and a solid understanding of criminal law and procedure.

Employers typically seek qualified solicitors with experience in criminal defence work, including police station representation and courtroom advocacy.
