Trustee and non-executive director
The Guardian Foundation has an exciting opportunity for a new Trustee to join its Board in a voluntary, non-executive director capacity. If you have time and energy to invest in our growing independent charity, and you believe, like us, that a free press is crucial to a functioning democracy; that everyone should be able to have their voice heard and engage with the media they consume; and in order for the media to hold power to account it must be made up of representative journalists, then we would love to hear from you.
This is an exciting time for The Guardian Foundation and an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the success of our beneficiaries. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate particular strengths and capabilities around fundraising and the philanthropic sector, as well as the ability to help raise the profile and visibility of the charity and steer its strategic direction. This is a voluntary role with an estimated time commitment of 5-6 days equivalent per year.
The Guardian Foundation is an independent charity with a focus on supporting media under threat, promoting diversity in the media and empowering children and young people to engage with the news. Our vision is a world where all people can tell their stories, access the truth and hold power to account. We focus particularly on disadvantaged areas and people who are under/misrepresented in the media, therefore we encourage applications from candidates with lived experience in relation to this and our work more broadly.
