The traditional route to qualifying is through a training contract. Most firms recruit trainees two years in advance, however thiis could vary. Some firms will fund the LPC for their trainees prior to the training contract commencing. A new route to qualification has recently been introduced, called the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). The SQE involves two assessments to test the individual's legal knowledgee and practical legal skills. Some firms have started offering the SQE as opposed to the LPC. Currently, candidates can opt for either, depending on the firm, but the LPC will only be available until 2032. You can take the SQE route after an apprenticeship as well.
