Head of Private Client

Job Description

Salary: £45000 - £70000 per annum

Head of Private Client | 5+ PQE | Worcestershire | Salary from £45,000, plus annual bonus

The Opportunity
A well-established and highly regarded Worcestershire law firm is seeking an experienced Head of Private Client to lead its successful and well-supported Private Client department. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Private Client Solicitor or Legal Executive looking to take ownership of a thriving department while enjoying a genuine work-life balance. The successful candidate will inherit a well-managed caseload, a strong local reputation, and a loyal client base, allowing them to focus on developing the department rather than firefighting existing issues. The firm has built an enviable reputation across the local community and acts for a wide range of high-net-worth individuals and families, handling complex and often substantial estates.

The Role
You will oversee and further develop an established Private Client department, dealing with a broad range of matters including:
• Wills and estate planning
• Probate and estate administration
• Trust creation and administration
• Lasting Powers of Attorney
• Court of Protection matters
• Inheritance Tax planning
• High-value and complex estates
• Lifetime wealth preservation and succession planning

This is a leadership role, and the successful candidate will play a key part in the future direction of the department and wider firm.

Support Available
The department benefits from excellent existing infrastructure, including:
• Strong support and guidance from experienced partners
• An experienced Private Client assistant
• A dedicated secretary who manages LPAs and related matters
• Modern case management systems (LEAP)
• Digital dictation technology
• External accountant support for tax calculations where required

The department is organised, profitable, and will be handed over in excellent condition.

The Candidate
Applications are welcomed from:
• Qualified Solicitors
• Chartered Legal Executives (FCILEx)
• Experienced Private Client lawyers with management or leadership experience

The ideal candidate will:
• Have significant experience handling a full spectrum of Private Client matters
• Be comfortable managing and developing a department
• Enjoy building long-term client relationships
• Be commercially aware and proactive
• Be looking for a long-term career move with progression prospects
• Have aspirations towards future partnership

Career Progression
This role offers genuine long-term progression. The firm's ideal appointment is someone who wishes to establish themselves within the business and, subject to performance and cultural fit, potentially progress towards partnership and future equity participation.
