LOCUM LEGAL CASHIER (REMOTE ROLE)

Legal Cashier: 6-Month Fixed Term Contract (Remote) GWR Legal Recruitment is working with a well-regarded law firm that is looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to join its accounts team on a six-month fixed term contract. This is a fully remote position, ideal for a hands-on cashier who can step in quickly, keep the ledgers in good order and be a dependable point of contact for fee earners, wherever they are based. The Role The successful candidate will be employed as a legal cashier within the firms accounts team, making sure every transaction is handled accurately and in line with the SRA Accounts Rules. Working remotely, you will stay closely connected with the accounts team and fee earners, and your time will be split across the following: -Carrying out daily bank reconciliations across the firm’s accounts -Investigating and allocating funds received through Internet Banking promptly and in line with firm policy -Supporting fee earners and secretaries on finance queries, whether by email, phone or Zoom -Reviewing client ledger balances and working with fee earners to clear them once matters complete, so money is returned without delay -Preparing and releasing electronic and cheque payments in compliance with firm policy and the SRA Accounts Rules -Moving costs and disbursements between accounts as required -Checking and processing bills -Taking card payments from clients over the phone -Recording incoming cheques and requesting postings where needed -Raising any breaches with the Senior Accounts Manager straight away and helping to put them right -Picking up other reasonable duties as the team needs About you -Previous experience as a Legal Cashier is essential -You have a strong working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules and legal accounting processes -You are comfortable working independently from home and communicating clearly with colleagues by phone, email and Zoom when needed - You are available to start immediately or at short notice.
